Beginning (Again)

A 30-Day Email Course for Women Writers

What if you could choose ‘that world’—of imagination, poetry, and creation—and live in it?

Beginning (Again) is a free 30-day email course inspired by Janet Frame’s early writing life.

It offers you a way back to the world you once glimpsed—a world shaped by memory, language, and the desire to write, even when life made it difficult.

A world your mother, or her mother, may never have had the chance to enter. But you can.

There are (at least) four circumstances against writing. Accepting these is crucial to writing a novel. Then there's the fifth: procrastination—until you step into the house of fiction and never look back.

Why you might be here

You’ve written before—but you’ve stepped away.

Maybe you’ve tried again—with a new notebook, a cleared table, or a quiet promise to begin.
But life gets in the way. Doubt creeps in. The pages stay blank.

You’re not a beginner. But you’re not sure you’re still a writer.
And the longer it’s been, the harder it feels to begin again.

Janet Frame once chose “that world”—the world of imagination and inner life—over the one expected of her.
You’ve glimpsed that world too. Maybe it’s time to step into it.

What This Course Will Help You Do

This course offers a way back—through reflection, memory, and small, meaningful steps.

You’ll follow Frame’s early journey, from her first story to the moment she chose to become a writer.
You’ll explore your own creative past—your early attempts, your silences, and the possibility that you don’t have to start over.
You just have to begin—again.

This isn’t about productivity.
It’s about coming back to what’s already been with you.

What You’ll Get

  • 10 Core Lessons + 1 Bonus Lesson inspired by Janet Frame’s early writing journey—from her first story to choosing the writing life

  • The Beginning (Again) Workbook, a simple and beautiful document with space to write, reflect, and dream

  • Action steps with each lesson to help you create small, lasting writing habits

  • Gentle structure, not pressure, so you can return to writing in your own time

  • Creative inheritance, reflected in Frame’s mother—a woman who longed to write, but never got the chance

This Course Is for You If…

  • You’ve stepped away from writing—and want to return

  • You’ve written before, but haven’t fully claimed your voice

  • You’ve felt caught between “this world” and “that world,” unsure where you belong

  • You’ve inherited stories—some written, some silenced—passed down through women who wanted to write

  • You’re ready to begin—not from scratch, but from where you are

You Don’t Need to Start Over.

You just need to begin—again.

Meet Your Instructor - Madeleine

I’m a writer and teacher helping women return to writing with depth, clarity, and confidence.

Trained in two of Norway’s leading creative writing programs, I now teach what I once searched for: a way to begin (again) that honors what came before—the silences, the detours, and the voices that didn’t make it to print.

In Beginning (Again), we follow Janet Frame’s early writing life—and glimpse the longing her mother carried but couldn’t fully live out.

The books her mother once loved still sat on the shelves—but were no longer read.
That gap—between reverence and abandonment—shaped Frame, and it shapes many of us.

This course gives you space to return, reflect, and reclaim what might have been set aside—not just by you, but by the women who came before you.
